Nikken Sekkei and UNK project have won the contest for the development of a district in Moscow

Japanese bureau Nikken Sekkei together with UNK project won an international competition for a development project to be implemented in the territory of new Rublevo-Arkhangelsky district with its area 460 ha in Western Moscow.
The concept is based on combination of advanced technologies in the engineering system solution, creation of a smart management system and development of connections in community, while maintaining a unique natural resource of this territory and creating landscaped common areas. Japanese bureau’s city is an “interconnected city”.
The competition was conducted behind closed doors from May to October, 2018. Seven international architectural bureaus that had developed projects in tandem with Russian partner companies applied.
Participants had to develop a vision of a project, activity scenarios, functional content program and principles for formation of unique attractiveness of city environment and lifestyle in the territory, presenting smart ideas.
Participants independently selected a site for the first stage and offered a sketch for development of the territory with elaborated architectural and space-panning solutions for all main types of buildings of the stage one.
